don't be afraid to use a little color

don't be afraid to use a little color
don't be afraid to stretch your wings and soar
don't be afraid to be yourself
don't be afraid to share the things that you like
don't be afraid of who you are
don't be afraid of the talents God gave you
don't be afraid
it only holds you back
have courage
push past the shyness
i know
i had the same problem
but you can do it
we can do it
God can help us
don't be afraid
it holds you back
don't be afraid to use a little color
to color the world
to shine the Light
to let them know
what you believe
what you think
what you feel
don't be afraid
it holds you back
so let go

thank you, little heart

my finger's cold against the glass as i trace the heart onto the window. the chill stays on my finger, even as i stare at the heart, the lights rolling by behind it. the car shakes a little, but my eyes stay on that heart. that thing that shows me that there is still somewhere that loves me. someone that cares about me. and, slowly, i smile.

i'm not alone in this. i'm not the only one who has felt this way. i'm not the only one who has felt like i'm going to fail. like i'm alone. like nobody else understands me. i keep my focus on that heart. i don't stare out the window, into the depressing world outside. the one that i feel has betrayed. i keep my focus on that heart. and i realize that i still have one. and i smile.

thank you, little heart, for reminding me; reminding me that there are others. that there is hope. that i'm never going to be alone. thank you, little heart. thank you.

We all have that Friend

we all have that friend
that one to comfort us
to make us smile
to make us laugh
to be silly
even when we're tense
we all have that friend
who makes us feel better
who makes our day better
who makes us be able to get through
we all have that friend
the one that understands
the one that cares
the one that's always there
no matter what
we all have that friend
thank you, Lord

Jessie's Horrible Summer Plans

Dear Readers,

Oh, yeah, hi, this is Jessie Bender. :)

Welllllllll.... you probably wouldn't have liked the stories that I've been sending Storyteller lately, anyway. (Baby Will walking... Baby Will said his first word... Baby Will has an addiction to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...) But she could've AT LEAST posted them... I mean, come on...

Anyway, I suppose you could say I, uh, *cough cough* hacked into her email account and are posting this right now. (OK, OK, she gave me her password for other purposes and I just came on. So what??) Anyway, so I should probably start explaining, right?

I can't believe it's already June!! School's out, so thankfully I'm not seeing the terrible three (Maya and the two other stinker girls) and Maurice (*shiver*). And Noah has been coming over to help me with baby Will and play football in the backyard.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that Mom signed me up for a cooking class, Noah got signed up for it, too, and then our parents decided that we should both sign up for a class about first aid, and then another swimming class at the pool.

The worst part?

Maya, Summer, Ladasha, and Marcus are all signed up for the same thing.

The only thing that's going to make it better is Noah. And yet our phone conversation wasn't that happy on Friday.

Me: So.

Noah: So.

Me: We got signed up for lots of stinking awful lessons with our worst enemies.

Noah: You mean three of our worst enemies and the guy who has a secret crush on you.

Noah: Sorry.

Me: It's not funny.

Noah: What?

Me: Marcus.

Noah: I know.

Me: You're laughing at me.

Noah: What? No I'm not!

Me: Yes, you are. I can just imagine your face.

Noah: Jessie, what on earth are you talking about?!

Me: It's horrible. It's just too horrible.

Noah: (sighs and says awkwardly) It'll... it'll be OK, Jessie. I'll be there to fend off the meanies.

Me: Thanks, buddy.

Noah: No problem.

Me: We're going to die, aren't we?

Noah: Yep.

Me: Bye.

Noah: Bye.

I don't think there's much hope for our future...

Note from Storyteller: this is fictional story. Jessie is fictional, and so obviously nobody's hacked into my account. =P

"It's always a Good Time..."

Music love time. <3

Well, first off, the music artist who I've talked about the most on this blog is... *drum roll* Owl City. (of course... ;)) So, I'm going to have a little "I love all of these Owl City songs" time. :) Just because I love the sound of Owl City. :)

"Good Time"
(catchiter then anythin' ;))

(first song I ever heard by him... got me hooked... {obviously} ;D)
(the song that made him famous...)

"Alligator Sky"

Yeah, well, I love lots more by him, but I suppose these are enough for now, eh? ;) What are some of your favorite songs? What's your favorite Owl City song? :)

just tell Him

fly fly fly away
let your freedom soar
let everything out
just scream and shout
let it spill over
just let God know what you're feeling
just get it all out
and i know
that suddenly everything will fall into place
and you will feel it
a difference
a peace
something deep inside your heart
just let Him know what you're feeling
He already knows
but tell Him yourself
let Him make you free
let Him let you soar away
let Him give you your freedom
your Salvation
everything you ever needed
just tell Him

Rather Simple, Actually...

This is rather simple, actually, but... do you guys like the posts that I've been doing lately? I mean, you guys don't really seem... to like... you know... my posts... Anyway, I like them. I like writing them. I think they're pretty. And they let me speak in a way that's not what I usually get out of my mouth. It's like a poem. It's like a flow, a thought, an idea, something in my mind that makes sense, a dream. Know what I mean?

Anyway, please give me your feedback. <3

My Strange Dream

Since Abilaine asked me about a story from the previous post, I decided that I would actually write one about it. The main character's name is going to be Zoe Fairchild, and she's going to be battling the disappearance of her brother, Aaron, into the mysterious Void, where no one can come out. Yeah, well, I don't want to tell you everything. ;)

Anyway, last night I had the weirdest dream. First off, have any of you guys watched that movie "Rise of the Guardians"? Yeah, well, Jack Frost from that was in my dream. (Except in his human brown-haired form...) There were like three girls in it, too, and it seemed like I was switching between them at different times, if that makes any sense... There was an older black haired girl named Emily, a younger black haired girl named Pitch (I have no idea... it was really weird), and an older blonde haired girl whose name I don't remember, and that Jack liked. (At least, I think so. But she didn't like him.)

Anyway, Jack wasn't in the beginning, but we were being chased by orcs. (nope, haven't watched LOTR lately, but I really want to...) And then we were in this sleigh, too. And during like the whole dream it was snowing. I think Jack came with the sleigh. Anyway...

And then towards the end of the dream I found out that my friend had published a book (that I hadn't even heard of) that she'd written, and had included some piano music in the back. All in all, I think it was the weirdest non-nightmare I've had in a really long time.

Oh yeah. Right at the end, I think I was playing something like poker with Jack, except that I felt I should know how to play, but I didn't. And then I ended up going to a different table and winning like a million bucks.

Weird? Yes, I think so...

Anyway, enough of my strange ramblings. God bless. :)

Dear You, Love Me

dear you,

i'm thinking of you. i miss you. i feel so alone without you. like there's nobody else who understands me. you were the only one, ever. and now you're gone. and i'm not even sure what i'm going to do. i go to the places that we used to go to. but that only makes it worse. i can barely see your face anymore, in my mind. pictures don't do you justice. that's just a captured moment. i don't want a captured moment. i want you.

i feel lost without you. i don't feel... the same. please come back. i know you can't, but i wish you would at least try. that would make all the difference. i know that you're not going to write back to me. because you can't. but i wish you'd still try.

i miss you,

Prayer Requests

Oooh! Oooh! A theater!! (stop, stop, you're making me nervous...) Justttt... kidding. =D Well, kind of. Come on, I've got some serious stage fright issues going on. ;) But I still love acting.

Unfortunately, this post here isn't dedicated to acting. (though it's something very worthy and probably should have a whole post dedicated to it, huh?)

Anyway, I thought I just might want to talk about some things that have been going on. Well, um, specifically ones that need some prayer.

First off, my dad just got diagnosed with cancer, so if you could pray for him, that would be amazing.

Second off, I'm have HTML issues with my header on this blog, and it's freaking me out. So, yeah, just be praying for that, and that I don't feel freaked out anymore. :) (I seriously think I actually had a bad dream last night because of that... anyway...)

Third off, and most importantly, I just learned from a friend that there was this girl who wanted to commit suicide because of some bullying issues. Thankfully, my friend stopped her, but still, she needs lots of prayer. Please pray that she'll come to know Christ and that God will save her from the bullies. (apparently this is really, really serious, not just a "give me your lunch money, kid" kind of a thing. Please be praying.)

Thanks, guys. :)

"i'm sorry i didn't know then"

the rose fell, landing softly on the ground, making practically no sound. her eyelashes fluttered, her heartbeat leapt. no. the thought swept through her. the man knelt before her, the saddest look she had ever seen on his face.

"so that is your answer," he whispered.

he got up from his knees, starting to walk away, looking so grown up in his uniform. eyelashes fluttering from tears, she looked down at the rose at her feet, and then to the retreating young man. he had once meant everything to her. they had been best friends. but this... this was different.

"Richard, wait," she whispered.

he didn't reply. he didn't turn back.

and he never made it back.

the rose still lay on the porch, years later, withered, dead. the girl, now an old woman, walked down that same path that she had walked years ago with the young man that had once loved her. now he was gone. she bent down and picked up the rose. snowflakes fall all around her. and she sat down and cried.

"i love you, Richard," she whispered. "i'm sorry i didn't know that then."

Just a short story. Sorry it's so sad. Just inspired by the picture...

Making Post Titles Go Italic When Hovered

OK, so, somebody asked me how I make my post titles go italic when hovered over. This is the result of two things, which I will be explaining.

First off, have you see how on the Simple templates when you hover over on them, they don't have an underline, but on the Ethereal ones they do? This is something that we're going to be using to our advantage.

OK, ready? Let's go. ;)

1. Log into your account.
2. Click on the blog you want to edit.
3. Go to "template".
4. Change your blog into a Simple template if you haven't already.
5. Click "Customize".
6. Go to Advanced.
7. Click CSS.
8. Paste this in the box:

a:hover { color: black; font-style: italic;
text-decoration: none; }

9. Click "save template".
10. Go to your blog, hover, and see how it works!! :)
Note: this code will change all links on the page to go italic when you hover.

OK, so, how can you customize this code? (this is the fun part ;))

a:hover { color: black; font-style: italic;
text-decoration: none; }

All of the words that I highlighted can be customized. First, "black". This is where you change what color the font is when it's hovered over. Examples are: light gray, pink, yellow, and normal. You can use most any color. "Normal" makes it whatever you had it on before you put this code into play. The highlighted "italic" is talking about changing your hovers to italic. If you don't want it to do so, like if you have a font that doesn't do italic in a pretty way, then you can change it to "blink", so that the underline is taken off hovers. (I do this a lot...) Next, "none". This is talking about an extra style. So far, the only thing that's worked is "underline", but I mostly got this code to get RID of the underline, so I don't use it. But if you want to, go ahead.

I hope this was helpful!! If you have any questions, just ask. :)

Does anybody else just really like Owl City's music?
This song especially is amazing. <3
What is your favorite Owl City song? :)

Comfort...Stories...and a TV review.

What do you think of when you see/hear/read that word?

For me, one thing I think of is stories.

(image from Google)
They are a great distraction from the outside world for a little while, and you can find comfort with the characters.
It's always interesting to try and place yourself in someone else's shoes.
I don't know if you watch Once Upon a Time or not, but I think it would be quite fun to be a part of that storyline.

If you don't know what it's about, basically there's an evil witch who traps every story book character in the small town of Storybrooke, Maine, where time is stuck, and nobody who lives in Storybrooke can leave the town without something bad happening.
It's an exciting TV show! There are so many twists and turns, and it's always fun to try and predict who will be what character! :)

Have I got you on the edge of your seat? ;)

Poem Girl...

The button. Here's the code:

<div align="center"><a href="" title="Poetic-Meditations" target="_blank"><img src="" alt="Poetic-Meditations" style="border:none;" /></a></div>

You can just pull this off. ;)

The header. Directions for pull off: click right on photo; click "open image in new window"; grab the picture. Hope you enjoy! :)
You can just pull this off. ;)

I love you.
Sometimes I hate you,
but I still love you.

Sometimes we fight.
Sometimes I still don't understand you,
but I love you.

Sometimes you don't like something that I've done.
And sometimes I agree.
I love you.

Sometimes we laugh.
Sometimes when I cry over something stupid, you still comfort me.
I love you.

Sometimes you tell me I'm a nerd.
Sometimes (okay, a lot of time) I annoy you.
but I love you.

Sometimes you tell me "You know you're crazy, right?"
Sometimes I agree.
I love you, sister.

Seemingly useless knowledge.

are you like me in that you like researching things, and then end up with what many people call "useless knowledge", because you know something but nobody seems to know what to do with it?

I hate that.

Take for instance, I know how the first popsicle and how the first chocolate chip cookies were invented (and both by accident), but that's nothing more than an "interesting story".

(a random picture for this random post) ;)

Do you ever remember small little things that nobody else seems to recall, and then they are maybe a bit scared that you remembered it, or other times you remember something that they don't, and they argue with you about it?

I do that.

I remember some strange things.
Like what shirts all my friends were wearing when I went ice skating for the first time a few years ago.

Please, someone else tell me that you're like this too!

Just some randomness today-exactly like in my blog name. XD

Just a quick little thought from me today.
If you haven't heard this song before, you probably should.
I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and even memorized the lyrics.

"I'm strong enough I've always told myself. I never wanna need somebody else. But I've already fallen from that hill, so I'm dropping my guard, here's your chance at my heart..."

^^^That's me. But I know that I do need somebody else.

I'm learning:
"Love just isn't safe. You're not safe. And that's okay."

Happy Friday, lovelies! :)

When you can't sing...sing!

Hi! :D I'm Sarah V., back from My Randomness and Ramblings. :) Thank you so much to Storyteller for letting me write this post for her. :D

When you can't sing...sing.

(this post is for me just as much as it is for you)

one of the things I hate most about being sick/recovering from being sick is not being able to sing.
Not because I've been told "don't sing, you need to rest", but because I physically cannot sing when I am sick. I can try, but then the notes dim out, and I need to clear my throat. Again.

I love singing. I know I'm not the best singer out there, but I'm not the worst either. It bothers me when I think about not being able to sing...or instead I listen to music non-stop if my sickness allows me. (like if I have a headache, there is no way I'm listening to music of any kind)
Or I tap...or I write. Like now.

Even when you can't sing...sing. Let your high spirits sing for you. Be happy and let others see it. Spread some joy around. Hug somebody. Dance!
In essence, you will still be singing, because when I think of being really happy, I think of my heart singing. :)

Let go...and let God take control.

Go from this:
"I've got all these plans piled up sky high, a thousand dreams on hold, and I don't know why, I got a front-row seat to the longest wait, and I just can't see past the things I pray today."
to this:
"I don't know, I don't know, what tomorrow may hold, but I know, but I know, that You're holding it all, so no matter what may come...I'm gonna fix my eyes on all that You are, till every doubt I feel, deep in my heart grows strangely dim."

I've had to learn this a lot in the past couple of years...throughout my whole life really. Even in the Bible it says this:
"Look at the nations! Watch them and be amazed and shocked! I will do something in your lifetime that you won't believe even when you are told about it." - Habakkuk 1:5, NCV

I have to trust Him because if He told me what He was doing through my struggles right now, I wouldn't believe Him.

So...believe that God knows what is best for you...because He truly does.
wait for Him. And sing. :)

"If I cannot fly, then let me sing."

Sarah xx

Hi there! I'm Autumn from Autumn's Reading and Writing and Onedolloutthere You might know me from one of those??? Anyways, I'm going to be guest posting on this awesome blog for a little!!! {scary} Anyways, so I'm kind of clueless about what to post about, but I have some ideas.

OK, I'm going to describe me in a few words for you. I probably could be described by a hundred words, but I'll pick out a few......

animal lover

OK, I can think of a couple {hundred} more words to describe but.... that's another day.

What words describe you? What do you like to do too?

Remember Me?

And weirder than ever.

Okay, to tell you the truth, I don't even remember if this was the blog I guest-posted on. It was one of Storyteller's, for sure, I'm just too lazy to find the link {sorry guys}.
But basically, I think I scared you out last time I posted. Sorry 'bout that.
So, this will probably be a normal {*cringe*} post because I like Storyteller, and I'd rather not have her ban me from her blog {not that she'd do that, but I take no chances}.

SO.... I finished a novel 'bout last year, and I'm working on the second. I have been posting tid-bits of it, but I haven't given anything reveling out. So, you're going to get something reveling, for all you bloggers who have read the first bit*:

My peace and quiet is interrupted by the Duchess and Duke’s son, Lord Cedric. ‘’Queen Alissa; I would not have expected the honor of finding you in the hallway. A pleasure it is,’’ Lord Cedric says politely. When anybody important is near him, he is quite alright, pleasant even. It is not so with ‘’the lessers,’’ as I’ve heard him call the servants and peasants.
‘’Lord Cedric, I must say the same,’’ I say coolly, traditionally holding out my hand for him to take and kiss. He does. I find that tradition silly and frivolous, but I’m required to do it.
There’s an awkward silence. Usually people warm right up to him, and there is no trouble talking between them. But Lord Cedric and I have a different relationship and we do not talk so warmly and easily with each other. I’ve often wondered if he’s wondered why I don’t warm up to him like so many other people. I think he must, because he often glances at me with a slightly puzzled look in his eyes.
‘’Ah, and the little miss Princess Flannery,’’ Lord Cedric says, breaking the silence. He takes his long, white fingers and tickles them under Flannery’s chin. She laughs, but not out of pleasure, more by being tickled. Somehow one of them moves its way up to her mouth, where she then bites him, hard with her one tooth, on his finger.
‘’Ow!’’ Lord Cedric yelps. He quickly snatches his fingers away from Flannery and massages the injured one. ‘’She’s growing quickly, Queen Alissa,’’ Lord Cedric says less politely, trying to hastily wipe a drop of blood off his bite. ‘’I’m very sorry for your bite. She must be teething. Would you like me to take you to the Healer’s Wing?’’ I ask politely, a faint smile dancing on my lips.
‘’No, no… I’ll take myself, I wouldn’t want to take your time away from you… Thank you for the pleasure, Queen Alissa,’’ Lord Cedric says hastily, in his effort to get away. He quickly vanishes down the stairs.
‘’Now, Flannery, you mustn’t take to biting people,’’ I say absentmindedly, beginning to pace again.

I am now officially made to go to dinner, now that I don’t have an excuses to avoid it. Flannery is still too young to be taken with me, so I give her to Maria to take care of her until dinner is over.
‘’Lord Cedric, how delightful it is to see you again,’’ I say stiffly but politely. Him being a guest and all I’m required to sit next to him at dinner, ensuring his uncomfortableness.
‘’Queen Alissa, I never fail to enjoy my time spent in your company. Princess Flannery is not here?’’ Lord Cedric asks, slightly uncomfortable.
‘’No, she’s not,’’ I ensure a little bit laughingly.
‘’A shame that is.’’
We talk rather politely and stiffly together about small things, like how the weather was like when he traveled here, how he thinks it’ll be when he leaves… small things like that. Dinner is not fast enough when talking about small topics.

‘’Ah, another one,’’ Andrew sighs tiredly, bending over his desk in our room.
‘’Another what?’’ I ask curiously. ‘’Another letter asking for betrothal to Flannery with their son.’’
‘’What?’’ I yelp, clutching my only daughter closer to my chest. Flannery squirms uncomfortably in my arms.
‘’A letter—‘’
‘’Yes, yes, I know, I heard that. Thank you. I didn’t know, however, that people were sending letters to you on the subject?’’ I interrupt. The idea of Flannery, in only seventeen years, wearing white and getting married makes me uncomfortable. Do they really grow that quickly? My baby’s too young to be getting letters asking for betrothal!
‘’Yes, it’s custom to do so for a royal daughter. Fifty-two year olds asking for her hand in marriage once she’s eighteen to fathers with children with all different ages to people asking who hope their un-born yet child will be a male.’’
‘’I hope you’ve refused them all,’’ I say fiercely, holding Flannery to me even tighter. She wails in discomfort. ‘’Alissa, you know I couldn’t do that. Potentially some of these letters could be from very good men in the next few years. I’d rather have her married off to some kind, good man than being in love with some bad one. I answer all of them with ‘’please ask again once Flannery is of age.’’’’ Andrew says simply. It makes good sense and that’s the part that annoys me.
‘’Now, I’d suggest loosening your hold on Flannery before you suffocate her,’’ Andrew says lightly. Sure enough, I find my hold on Flannery… was a bit too tight. She’s still giving me a mis-trusted glance even a few minutes later.

It's a larger, more boring piece but it shows more of Alissa's life after Snow White One. So.... It's all good.
*If you're wondering, my first novel IS online. However, it's on a private blog that I would have to give you acess to to read it. I am more than happy to grant that, but you'd have to email me.

Anyway, cheerio!

Madeline writes here.
She has finished her first novel, Into The Forest, and is currently working on her second.
Chocolate or vanilla? Depends on what it is.

Well, hello there, world!

hi there! :)

my name is Sarah and I blog over at My Randomness and Ramblings!
I just wanna say a quick "thanks" to Storyteller for letting me guest post for her while life is keeping her busy! ;)

I was chatting with Kayla earlier on G+ and she and I discovered that we both were really insecure about sharing our writings with anybody. Even people who are close to us. And blogging has helped the both of us to overcome some of that insecurity.

What about you? Did blogging help you to overcome any fears or insecurities?
Do you have any personal traits (i.e. being dramatic, or unpredictable, etc) that you feel help you to stay creative in your writing?

I, for one, have dozens of short stories locked away that only two or three people (at the most) have seen.
I was thinking of maybe sharing one or two of those old short stories with you all while I'm guest posting for Storyteller. :) Who knows? Maybe I will!

Do you have any writing tips to share?? Please, by all means, leave a comment and tell us what you've learned since you started blogging! :)

Ciao! ;)
Sarah xoxo

Guess what?

Life caught up again, and now I'm going to be busy for the next copy of days.

OK, so, thanks so much for my guest posters before, and now I'm going to need several more. Just leave your email in a comment and I'll add you tomorrow in the little time that I have. Thank you so so so so much if you're planning on doing this for me. :) It means so much. :)

And by the way, if you ever want me to do a guest post, I'm sure I would be open to doing it. :)

thanks so much||God bless
