“stop that plane”

via
“stop that plane!” i rushed towards the gate. “stop that plane!”

“excuse me,” glared the stewardess, who was about to go on, “what on earth are you talking about?”

i gripped her hands. “you must stop that plane. don’t let it take off!”

“whatever’s the matter?” her brow was furrowed.

“just stop it!” i urged, taking off at a run in the opposite direction. “just stop it,” i whispered.

maya’s words came floating back to me - you have the power to do anything. i shook my head, running faster. she was wrong - i didn’t have any powers, not like her or any of the others. all that i was? a normal human girl. i couldn’t do anything to stop this. i couldn’t, as much as i wanted to. i ached with all my heart to be able to do something. but i just couldn’t.

yes, you can.

i ran faster, trying to outrun the voice, but i couldn’t.

you might not have any so-called “powers”, but you have your own power that no one else has. a power that could save the world. use it.

i had no idea what they were talking about, but i knew the voice well. i shook my head, trying to get her out, but i couldn’t. instead, i found myself speaking back to the mind-reader. you don’t understand, you just can’t! i’m nothing special like you guys! i’m just a normal human! i felt like crying even as i thought the words.

no. you are so much more.

“i am nothing more,” i whispered, thinking it at the same time.

you are tane leyman. as long as there is evil in the world, the good will combat it. tane, you are that good. you might think you can’t do anything, but there is always something that good can do.

my running steps halted. suddenly, i wished that the mind-reader, layla, would say more. layla? layla, are you there? there wasn’t a reply. but her words echoed in my mind, and i realized she was right - i could do something. i couldn’t just stand here and let evil triumph. i didn’t know what i could do, but i would try to do whatever it took to make sure that plane didn’t take off the ground.

i took off back towards the gate. the stewardess woman was heading towards the door. i pushed past her - “hey! get back here!” - and through the door. i ran across the tarmac towards the stairs that looked like they were just about to be taken away from the door of the plane. i raced towards them, yelling and waving my hands - “stop! stop!”

the men taking it away stopped, giving me a strange look.

“are you on this flight?”

“i need to be,” i told them truthfully.

they nodded and let me go up. i sprinted to the top, glancing around the seats holding the passengers. that’s when i spotted them, towards the back of the plane. quickly, before they could see me, i ducked up front into the front where the pilots were.

“young lady, you can’t - ” somebody started to say.

“just a moment!” i cried, jumping away from the co-pilot’s reaching hands. “you can’t let this plane leave the ground! there’s a major threat on board!”

“and why should we believe you, a girl?” the pilot raised a suspicious eyebrow at me.

“look, if anybody else was saying this, would you believe me?” i pleaded.

“what kind of a threat?” the pilot finally asked.

“it’s... um... a dangerous person,” i managed. “basically worse then a terrorist. i’d suggest that you evacuate the plane immediately and get them into the custody of the law.”

“young lady, if you’re...” the pilot started to say.

at just that moment, there was the sound of somebody getting punched behind us. one of the stewardesses came through the door, face pale.

“sir, somebody just went and attacked one of the passengers, and...!”

“quickly, get everybody off the plane!” he cried. “hurry!”

before they could say anymore to me, i hurried out of the cabin and saw the scene unfolding. maya, cameron, and a few of the others were there, finally putting Y-band handcuffs on zeen, his apprentice, zyn, and his Partner, sasha, and starting to escort them out of the plane.

“what is the meaning of this - ?!” the pilot came out of the cabin, staring at all of us.

“it’s nothing,” maya told him. “you may continue on with your flight.”

“yeah,” cameron agreed. he held up what looked like a government badge, having come from the pocket of his suit coat. “we’re part of the government.” as though it would help, he also pulled a pair of aviators out and put them on.

everybody was staring at us, and i could only imagine what they had to be thinking. i only smiled and maya. she leaned forward and whispered, “thanks for stalling the plane. we couldn’t have done it without you.”

“thank you,” i told her. “your words were part of the reason that i kept going.”

maya just smiled. before anybody else could say anything, we escorted zeen & co off the plane and behind the airport. jack then teleported us back to the base.

i realized, as everyone celebrated everything that had gone right, that i really didn’t have to have any powers or be anything amazing to do something amazing. i just had to have courage. and sometimes that meant a lot more then any kind of power. i smiled.

as kind of a little note, this is kind of partly a story idea i had that would go along with the unusuals, as kind of like a second series. thoughts?

let's eat some cereal together

i smiled. she giggled. milk dripped off my spoon and plopped back into my bowl. her elbow bumped the table, spilling milk on the old wooden table. she gives me a guilty look, but i only smile and reach over, wiping it up with a napkin. she gives me a toothy grin. i give her a wink. she giggles, and slurps milk and cereal into her mouth. i grin, watching her, her little golden curls bouncing with her every movement. we were separated by ten years. i was the oldest, she was the youngest. but it didn't matter. we were sisters. she looked up to me like a mother. i looked up to her like a friend. in her simplest, child-like manner, she would say things that would make so much sense, and make me wonder why i hadn't thought that before. i could be a horrible mess of a crying wreck, and she would simply slip her small hand into mine, so warm, so tiny, so precious. her large eyes would look up at me and she'd whisper, "you ok?" and i'd wipe away the tears and nod, smiling down at her little face. she made days bearable for me. she gave me that smile i needed. she gave me that encouragement to reach the last mile. she might've only been give years old, but she was wiser then someone who was five hundred years old. i would forever love my little sister. she saw the simple things that i often forgot. she saved me from the silliest things. she lifted my hopes and brightened my days. she was my little sunshine.

i can still remember the words she said as i came down the stairs that morning, my face puffy from crying from the night before. she didn't know, or need to know, about the yelling that had gone on. she didn't need to know about the horrible words screamed at me, the same words that i screamed back. she didn't need to know anything other then that i was her sister, and that we loved each other. she just came up to me with her innocence. her beautiful big eyes stared up at me as she whispered the so simple words. the simple words that suddenly brightened my day and made everything better.

"let's eat some cereal together."

"i'm back"

i sat in the dark room as the first rays of sunlight came in. my hands were cold, but i didn't move. i didn't want to make any noise, for fear of missing the first sound of it. i had waited up all night. i couldn't sleep. the rest of my family had been sleeping ever since they'd been sent off to bed. but not me. my cold coffee sat before me on the hardwood table. maria's flowers sat on the windsill. my knee wouldn't keep still, going up and down nervously. when, when, when?

that's when i heard it: the low rumble of the old ford truck. i jumped out of my chair and rushed out the door. my bare feet pounded along the dusty road through the dead yellow grass. my long brown hair flew out behind me. my breathing sounded loud in my ears. i didn't stop, running with all my might towards that sound that i had been waiting for... for what seemed like so long.

i stopped in the middle of the road. there it was. the old ford sputtered to a halt. dad's tall figure strode towards me, shadowed by the sun. i caught my breath. i hadn't see him in what felt like forever. i ran towards him.

"daddy." the words that i'd been yearning to say for so long came off my lips without me even thinking about it.

"i'm back." he hugged me tightly. "my little sarah. i'm back. i'm not leaving."

"i love you, daddy."

"i love you, too, sarah."

i took a walk down the quiet path

i took a walk
down the quiet path
all alone
in the dark
sun rising
through the mist
birds quiet
in the trees
cobbles hard
beneath my feet
winding deep
within the forest
i had heard
the tales
the stories
the legends
about this wood
but they didn't
scare me
i knew the beauties
i knew the secrets
i knew the wonders
of this wood
this place
where people
had made myths
legends
tales
stories
and so i walked forward
unafraid
for what felt like
the forest time
in my life

i took a walk
down the quiet path
needing to get away
from the noise
of life
the business
that seems to consume
everyone else
i can't stand
all of these people
all of this noise
i just need
to get away
to be alone
just have some time
by myself
so
i took a walk
down the quiet path
hoping to find
some quiet
some peace
some beauty
and some time
alone

i took a walk
down the quiet path
breathing in
the fresh scent
of the trees
the beautiful smell
of the flowers
and feeling
finally
free
from the noise
the business
of the city
i was finally
back home
this was the place
i felt
i belonged
i looked for
my friends
and they were
here
the magical
mystical
and sometimes
rather strange
people
who dwelt
in these woods
they had come back
to see me
again

i smiled
we were ready
for an adventure
the only adventure
that you can have
if you take a walk
down the quiet path
and throw off
the busy things
of life
and get away
from the noise
and stay quiet
enough
so that you can
hear them
calling

we were ready
are you?

"i don't want this magical world to end"

i sit out
under the stars
the fairies fly
by my eyes
a trailing light
of magic dust
sparkles in
the pixies' hair
the Lion stands
atop the hill
smiling down at me
my friends sit
around me
watching the stars
basking in
the happiness
that we had found
and i heard
His voice
in my head
"it will end"
"soon you must"
"leave"
and i felt
this sadness
this weight
in my heart
and i stood
and walked
into the forest
and i felt
the words
come off
my lips
"i don't want this magical world to end"

a tear
it slid
down my cheek
"stop it"
i hissed
i didn't want
to think
of leaving here
of leaving
my friends
of leaving
my memories
i didn't want
to forget
anything
but what if i
did?
i didn't want
that to happen
i wanted to come back
i wanted to have
more adventures
here
i wanted to meet
more people
i wanted to go
to new places
i wanted more
amazing things
to happen
 i wanted to live
another lifetime
and i realized
in that dark forest
by myself
that
i didn't want this magical world to end
ever

i felt
a presence
behind me
a loft
comforting
familiar
presence
and i knew
that He
was there
"why?"
i whispered
"why
does all of this
have to end?"
He was silent
for a moment
both of us
quietly standing
the small fairies
their little lights
trailing
glowing lights
in the dark
forest
"because"
He finally started
"because
it is your time"
"because
you have learned
what you were meant to learn
and though
you find this sad
you will find it good
that you learned this
and instead
of being sad
think of all
the happy times
that you have had
here
and be joyful
instead of
sad"
"alright"
i nodded
"i understand"
"thank you"
i heard Him laugh
a low
soft
laugh
"I love you
I will always love you
I will always be there
for you
even when you're scared
when when you think
you're alone
I am there
and I
will always
help you"
and i smiled
and i turned
and He was there
the Lion
and i wrapped
my arms
around His neck
and we just stood there
and i knew--
i knew i would miss
this place
but i also knew
that i was about
to enter
another
"magical" world
and that i
had a new
adventure
before me

you have an adventure \\ live that adventure

"can we start over?"

she would forever be haunted
by the eyes
the face
the screaming words
that came out
towards her
begging for help
"help"
"help me"
she had ignored them
looked the other way
and walked towards another dream
trying to forget
everything that had happened
everything she'd promised
everything they'd planned
they'd been found out
and she realized
if she'd helped him escape
she would have suffered
the same fate
as him
but then
she didn't know
she only thought of herself
she only thought of getting away
building a new dream
finding a new path
one away from him
where nobody would ever
ever ever ever
guess the truth

years later
she remembered the eyes
she remembered the words
that passed between them
she remembered her own lying words--
"do you know him?"
"no."
his face had fell
his heart had been hardened
she had ruined
years
of relationship
with just one
little
word
she hadn't really realized
what she lost
until she had
really lost it
when he had left
been taken away
and she had fled
hoping for a new life
a new dream
one that she soon found
she would never find

"excuse me"
the voice
at first
wasn't familiar
"yes?"
she turned
and suddenly
it was like she was back
to a girl
who had found
the person she wanted to marry
and suddenly
she felt faint
and grabbed for something
his face paled
his eyes grew large
and that one word
that one accusing word
that one word
that ripped her heart out
and sent it flying
"you"
her eyes flickered
her heart in her throat
"i'm...i'm sorry"
his eyes flashed
anger
he didn't care about her
he didn't care anymore
she had ruined him
she saw it in his eyes
and she felt
the one thing
she had pushed away
so many times
over the years

pain

"please, please, forgive me"
she begged
in a whisper
"i... i should never..."
"no, you shouldn't have"
they both stood there
feeling pain
anger
confusion
and then
suddenly
his face changed
his eyes calmed
and he said the words
that changed her life
forever
"i forgive you
can we start over?"

never give up hope

i reached out for a brush, my arm flecked with paint--red, black, orange, yellow, purple, blue, green. i grasped it in the palm of my dirty hand, dipping it in one of the paint canisters and brushing it over the large, blank canvas. bold blue made a line, like a waterfall, down the middle. i washed the brush and looked around for another color. what next?

i heard the door slam, and i felt my heart fall. not yet. i wasn't ready. not yet. oh, please, not yet... why, why, why, why?! i had wished that this time would last forever, that they would just forget about me, and that i could just pretend that everything was going to be the same.

"sophia?"

i didn't turn around. i reached for another brush, another color--this time bright red--and smeared it on the canvas. it wasn't pretty. it seemed real.

"sophia?" her hand was on my shoulder.

"what." it came out as a hiss, showing my distain of their decision that i knew would come.

"you're... you're coming with me. your brother's going with your dad."

i stabbed my paintbrush into the water. "i'm not leaving jason."

mom sighed. "jason will be fine. your father will take care of him."

"i'm not leaving him," i repeated. "he's too young. he needs me. i'm the only mother he's got."

i knew that my words sent a blow like a sledgehammer, but i couldn't take them back, and i didn't want to.

"you don't have a choice." her voice was harsh. "the courts had decided. i have legal rights over you, and your father has legal rights over jason."

"well it's not fair!" i slammed my hand down on the table, tears coming to my eyes and falling down my cheeks so that my vision was blurry. i got up from the chair and stumbled towards the door of my workshop.

"sophia!" i heard mom's footsteps behind me.

i pushed the door opened and ran to the house. i could see jason--frail body, eyes large and scared--standing on the porch as dad loaded his things into the car.

"jason!" i ran towards him like i would die. my little brother's eyes widened even more when he saw me.

"sophia!" he rushed off the porch and into my arms. he didn't care that i was covered in paint. he usually cared. his sweatshirt was covered in it now. but i hugged him tighter.

"it's going to be ok," i whispered. "it's going to be ok."

"sophia!" mom grabbed at my shoulder.

"no!" shrieked jason, reaching for me.

our hands reached for each other, the fingers touching. then we were both yanked away by our opposite parents. i was held, against my will, sobbing, as my brother drove away, his face horrified in the back window of the car as they slowly drove out of sight.

"don't give up hope," i whispered. "never give up hope."

* * *

eight years later

"sophia."

i never thought i'd hear that voice again. never again. ever. i hadn't heard that voice in eight years. i hadn't heard that voice since it last shrieked that one word that i will forever remember--no. and now i was hearing it, here, in the hospital bed? was i dreaming? could this be true?

"sophia."

the voice. it was so familiar, yet... older. different. my eyes flickered. in front of me was a face that i didn't know, and yet seemed so... so... close.

"who... who are you?" my voice cracked as i asked the question.

"it's me." the boy, who looked about sixteen, took a deep breath. "it's jason."

memories, thoughts, feelings whirled at me so fast that my headache came back with a vengenance. i screamed, my eyes rolling back. i could see his little face, so scared, in the back window of dad's car, all those years ago. and now he was here, right before me, with the same terrified look on his face.

"sophia, please," he begged. "remember me."

i grabbed his hand. i never wanted to let go. i never wanted him to go away. "ja...jason," i whispered. "it's... i.... i can't believe..."

his face sagged in relief. "they told me what happened. how you got hit by that car."

i took a deep breath, and then nodded. "they don't know if i'll ever walk again."

he smiled wanly. "you will. i know you will."

"how... how did you get here?" i could stop myself from asking.

"we moved into the area," jason explained. "i convinced dad to take me to see you. mom... mom told us where you were." he looked at me hesitantly. "dad... dad said we could see each other every week. if you want to."

i nodded, tears in my eyes. "of course i do. i love you, little brother."

"i love you, too, sis," he whispered, tears streaming down his face.

and once again, i held him in my arms. and we were safe.

Story Sneak Peek: Mackenzie

Mackenzie Glenworth's world is tipped over when somebody comes to her house in the middle of the night and tries to kidnap her.

And fails.

On the run, she meets a boy named Ben who tells her that she is wanted by the Caines--people who kidnap kids and enroll them in their assassin school. Mackenzie doesn't want to believe him. But when something happens that nearly makes her want to give up life all together, she realizes that it's true.

The Caines are real. And they're deadly.

Racing against the clock, Mackenzie must choose between saving her best friend, and saving others from the Caines.

Whoa.

Just... whoa.

This idea has been one of my favorites in a really long time.

I wanted a really cool name for my main character and her best friend, and I decided to use the names of two real life best friends (well, at least they seem to be) whose blogs I really love.

Mackenzie and Rose? Step forward please.

You guys are so amazing, and I love your blogs... and your names. Which is why I chose them to be the names of my main character and her friend. I'm not saying this is what you're like in real life, but in the story Mackenzie is the more crazier glittery one and Rose is the quieter, "you're such a goober" best friend. :)

I thought it was rather funny that Mackenzie is the one that the Caines want to recruit... one of my favorite lines of the book (so far) comes from Rose and goes something along the lines of, "Mackenzie loves glitter and photography and sarcasm! Not killing people!" (OK, it sounded a little bit funnier when I was writing it... I also think I phrased it differently in the story...)

I just love Mackenzie in the book. (and in real life. But I mean as a character, too...) She has such a great mind that goes so great along with my own. Just the way she thinks is priceless.

Oh yeah. And we both agree on a big argument.

I'm not a big Hunger Games fan, OK? But there's this argument that we had in our house after we first watched it about who was better--Gale or Peeta. (my parents went with Peeta. Us kids went with Gale. Which is kind of funny...) I personally don't like Peeta because he's so... so... so... wimpy. And... come on... it's kind of creepy about the whole "I-threw-bread-out-to-you-that-day-and-I-noticed-you-always-wore-braids" kind of a thing. (at least, for me...) But Gale? Come on, he's the cool man who actually seems like he could handle himself.

In the book, Mackenzie thinks Gale's cool. (oh yeah... lol) And Rose likes Peeta. (sorry, Mackenzie. I think on your blog you said you were a Hutchette? Yeah, so so sorry.... anyway.....) OK, well, they don't LIKE LIKE either, they just have arguments among each other. It's actually pretty funny. Anyway....... that was kind of awkward...... moving on....

I believe I got over 100 pages on it, but I'm still not done. Does this sound like a story you'd like to read? I sure hope so. :) I'll post it on here as soon as I'm done. ;)

Until later...

dear you, love me #2

dear you,

everything used to be perfect. everything was amazing. we were best friends. and then everything came crashing to the ground. why? why did you do that? why did you have to break us? i didn't want to go away. i didn't want have to it all fall away. but you did. i don't know why. i'm still trying to understand.

you built a wall between us. a big wall. a fence. and i don't know how to break it. i don't know how to tear it down and get back into that precious heart that i had known for so long. why? why did you build that wall? why did you build that fence? why do you want us to stay away from each other, when what we really need is each other? why do you want to do this to us? to me?

i feel so alone. there's nobody else in the world like you. not somebody who understands me as you do. there's nobody. i've searched. but nothing can fill the void like you do. why did you do it? i don't even understand. what did i ever do to you, that you would ruin my life forever? why?

i don't understand.

love,
me

"meet me at the fair"

"meet me at the fair." his words haunted her.

she was here, but where was he? she was tired of waiting for him. she'd waited for him all her life. waited for him to notice her. waited for him to realize that she wanted to marry him some day. waited for him to realize that he really loved her back.

she was tired of waiting. she didn't want it anymore.

then why, after five years, was she again waiting for him?

she glanced around, trying to see through the throng of people. she promised herself that if he didn't show up in the next ten minutes, that she would leave. never look back. never wait for him again, only to have it result in heartbreak once more. she wasn't going to wait for that. she was tired of waiting. she wanted somebody who she didn't have to wait for, somebody who would just realize who she was, what she thought, what she loved, and why. somebody who just loved her for her, instead of something that everybody else said about her. she wasn't shallow. she was full of depth. but he probably didn't even know that. probably didn't even care.

she waited ten minutes.

then twenty.

then thirty.

she couldn't bring herself to leave, not without knowing what he wanted. every time she thought about going, she got this feeling in her heart--a stab. she didn't want to leave. she wanted to believe that he would come and apologize for the waiting. to come and tell her what she really wanted to hear.

he loved her for her.

"cara?"

a hand was placed gently on her arm.

she turned around.

it was him.

"rick."

he smiled. "cara, you look great."

she couldn't manage a smile, even for his sake. she felt tears come to her eyes, but she pushed them back. "thanks."

"i...cara, i know this is sudden..." he trailed off, looking away. "just do it," he whispered to himself. he turned to cara and before she could protest got down on one knee. "cara smith, will you marry me?"

her voice caught in her throat. she thought of all the waiting she had ever gone through. she thought about everything that this man had done to her... ignored her for five years, asked her to wait, then rejected her for someone else. this was the person who had pursued shallow girls, after knowing her depth. this was the same man.

her eyes flickered. she had to make a choice. what was it going to be? she was tired of waiting. what if he made her wait again?

"no." the coldness in her voice surprised herself.

rick's face fell. "no? why not?"

"because of every single time you made me wait," she spat. "every single time you ignored me and went for somebody else. i don't want you because you lost your fortune and no other girl will have you. i want you because you love me--me for me." she couldn't believe that she'd brought up his loss of fortune at a time like this. "i don't want to wait any longer. i'm tired of being treated like i don't matter."

she walked off.

and, surprisingly, she felt free.

Happy in a rather sad way...

Story Sneak Peek: Rain

Princess Rain has always felt second best to her sister, Snow. Snow has always acted the role of the future ruler, despite the fact that Rain is two years older. When Rain is framed for an act of felony that she didn't commit, she is forced to flee her father's kingdom or be sent to the dungeons by her evil younger sister. Confused, angry, and full of sadness to be apart from her beloved father, she wanders into the Lost Forests, where she encounters a strange group of characters. Upon finding out that Snow has a plot to kill their father on the kingdom's anniversary, the same night that Snow will be crowned the ruler, Rain goes into action and, along with a motley band of dwarves, elves, and an angry huntsman, they go to save him. But will they be in time? And can they save the kingdom from utter despair?

This... is just a little synopsis of my newest story idea. Yeah, yeah, I decided to redo the Snow White story in a way that's totally not Snow Whitey. Well, first off, it's not a totally random idea--I was just randomly reading this book at the library and on the back it said, "How to mix up a fairytale--make the hero the villain and make the villain the hero." And I was like, "That is such a good idea!" Then I was going through fairytales, and I realized that one that doesn't get redone that often, but it still one of the more famous ones, was Snow White.

And come on. Admit it. The idea of having the gorgeous Snow White as a cruel and ruthless younger sister princess is pretty scary, right?

It took awhile to get it all through my brain--so Snow White's the bad guy, so who on earth is the hero? Um, the huntsman? No, it has to be a girl. Obviously. But then who? The Evil Queen? And that's when  I realized I wanted her to be the good guy. And then I was like, "Wait. Whoa. That makes my main character like... wow... ancient. I don't want that!" Then I got a great idea, "Why not make her the older sister, but she looks old enough to be Snow White's mother?" Of course, I was feeling pretty stoked at that idea. So I grabbed my notebook and started writing down ideas.

Which... is when I got to the dwarf part. And I was like, "Now, how on earth am I going to make the dwarves totally characters of my own?" And I was thinking, "First off, there can't be seven. There has to be more." That's why I decided it was two groups of feuding outlaw dwarves. Oh yeah. I was on a roll by then, and I was, "Whatever! Let's add in some elves! Everybody likes elves!" (at this point I will mention that these aren't cute little elves. These are LOTR-Legolas-kill-the-orcs-with-huge-bows elves.) And then I was like, "Wait a sec. What about the poor Huntsman?" So of course he hates Snow and wants to join Rain's side. :)

Now, about Rain's name. I was trying to think of a really good name for her. And I just couldn't help but think, "Man, Snow White's really a stupid name. Why on earth would you name your princess in your story Snow?" And then it was just like BINGO. Lightbulb in the brain. What if their father was like this huge weather scientist dude? That's why he would've named Snow Snow. And that's why I picked Rain for Rain's name.

I still haven't decided if there's going to be a prince/love interest for poor Rain. I mean, she's going to be seventeen about to turn eighteen. But still. Mushy gushy books are not what I like. I like having the guy in there, so that you can go and imagine what happens in the future (they get married? She ditches him? Who cares!) but I don't like having to go in on that in detail. (um... eww) Anyway, so, if there was one, I'm just saying, I think it should be an elf. Or maybe the huntsman! Wait, no, I made him old and he already has a family. Nevermind. =P

(if you can't tell, I'm still figuring some of these things out. Like... as I write this)

Anyway, so that's kind of a sneak peek of an upcoming story that I'm writing and hopefully going to be posting on here right before I go and get it published. :) Talk to ya'll later. ;)

The Surface

Nope, I don't just randomly start posting Owl City CD covers. Nope, this post isn't about how much I love Owl City. Nope, Owl City doesn't really even come into it. (OK, but just a little bit...) Nope, this post isn't even about music.

OK, so what on earth is this post about?!

Stories.

Like most of my posts.

In one way or another.

Anywayyyyyyy.....

What story am I going to be talking about?

Remember that post about that song about Owl City?

Anyway, if you don't, go check it out again real quick. ;)

OK, whoa, whoa, wait.

You guys know the Generation Gazette blog (whose authors I really need to talk about posting more regularly, like, maybe, oh,  I don't know, every day)?

Well, you know Danielle and the rest of them? Well, I'm writing a story about them. It's called The Surface. And, frankly, I think it's one of my best works. If not THE best. Mostly because I worked so hard on making it... right. Not just skimming through it. Doing it the right way. Staying in the spots as long as I needed to, to make it real. To actually have my character go through physical hardship, as well as emotional hardship. To get Danielle to the place where... where she actually seems... real.

And guess what? I'm already at 300-some pages, and still going! That's what's so exciting for me.

Of course... there's always the thought that you guys won't like it, and that nobody else will like it, and I'll never get it published... Man, sometimes I just feel like such a failure. =P

Anyway, I got inspired by Mr. Owl City's cover up there^.

(actually, the guy's name is Adam Young, but anyway...)

It's kind of like a world like that... magical and yet so real to our own. If it was like our own, though, it would definitely be in the future. (it's not called Earth, it's called Aerth, I believe, so it kind of could be Earth in the future, but I don't want to think of it as that bleak...) I want to make the books a trilogy, of just three books of around 300/400 pages each. I'm thinking the second book might be named The Underground (you'd understand if you read the book) or maybe The Equinox, and the third would be something like The Beginning. I'm not sure yet. Any ideas? :)

Anyway, I'll be posting it on here as soon as possible. :) I hope you guys will like it!! I'm feeling a little nervous about it... ;)

P.S. Rubberboot Girl publishing update: my query letter still has to be read by my "editor"... so, yeah, hopefully it will get sent off to the publishers we picked out!! Please keep praying. If I could get a book published... that would be my dream come true. <3

thank you, little heart

my finger's cold against the glass as i trace the heart onto the window. the chill stays on my finger, even as i stare at the heart, the lights rolling by behind it. the car shakes a little, but my eyes stay on that heart. that thing that shows me that there is still somewhere that loves me. someone that cares about me. and, slowly, i smile.

i'm not alone in this. i'm not the only one who has felt this way. i'm not the only one who has felt like i'm going to fail. like i'm alone. like nobody else understands me. i keep my focus on that heart. i don't stare out the window, into the depressing world outside. the one that i feel has betrayed. i keep my focus on that heart. and i realize that i still have one. and i smile.

thank you, little heart, for reminding me; reminding me that there are others. that there is hope. that i'm never going to be alone. thank you, little heart. thank you.

"i'm sorry i didn't know then"

the rose fell, landing softly on the ground, making practically no sound. her eyelashes fluttered, her heartbeat leapt. no. the thought swept through her. the man knelt before her, the saddest look she had ever seen on his face.

"so that is your answer," he whispered.

he got up from his knees, starting to walk away, looking so grown up in his uniform. eyelashes fluttering from tears, she looked down at the rose at her feet, and then to the retreating young man. he had once meant everything to her. they had been best friends. but this... this was different.

"Richard, wait," she whispered.

he didn't reply. he didn't turn back.

and he never made it back.

the rose still lay on the porch, years later, withered, dead. the girl, now an old woman, walked down that same path that she had walked years ago with the young man that had once loved her. now he was gone. she bent down and picked up the rose. snowflakes fall all around her. and she sat down and cried.

"i love you, Richard," she whispered. "i'm sorry i didn't know that then."

Just a short story. Sorry it's so sad. Just inspired by the picture...

How can you control explosive, yell-fest anger?

Their words sting.

You wait, your lip trembling, hoping that they'll take them back.
They don't.

They turn and fold their arms.

They're angry.
You run out of the room, trying to find somewhere safe.

And then you hide.
A tear falls down your cheek.

Everybody gets into arguments. Including me. Especially me. Everybody says things they regret. We all have confusing emotions that seem to plague us and sway us from what we want to do and say and from what we do do and say. I feel the waging emotions whenever I start to feel angry.
It rises up in my chest.
It's all knotted.
I just want it out!
I tell myself I shouldn't.
But I can't handle it anymore.
I yell.
There.
It's out.
It's hard, isn't it? You just have that feeling your stomach. I always feel like my heart's in a knot. I just want it out! It's like when I yell, then it comes out. Then it disappears. But you know what else shows up?
She looks at me.

Her face's stony.

But I know that she's hiding her true feelings.

She walks away.

I hear a quiet sob.

Hurt. Because we just hurt someone.
If you're like me, you have a hard time controlling your anger. You just feel that injustice against you, and wham! It's a yell fest. I know, it's awful, right? I've been getting better. (The only person to thank is God...) But still. There's just those times that I just want to yell. And then... I do.

How can we control our anger? How can we stop from hurting people? It's hard. We definitely can't do it on our own. (Believe me. I've tried it. It just seems to make you more angry, if you ask me...) There's only one person who can help you.

Yep.

God.

I know I say that, but what do I mean by it? Anybody can say "God", but not really mean anything by it. And how do you actually change it? From one girl to another, all I can is, you'll be doing lots of praying. And watching yourself. If you feel yourself starting to get angry, try to think why you're angry. If the other person is just being ridiculous are they're really in the wrong (and you just normally end up looking like the bad guy because you yell), then all you have to do is...

1. If you're a kid, then approach your parent(s). They can help you. (My parents are strong Christians, so they've helped out a lot.)

2. If you're an adult, you might have to just walk away. Yep. Sorry. No revenge thing here. No getting even. Just walk away. Or you can get yourself composed, and then deal with it rationally.

3. If you're a kid/teenager/whatever and you're at school or some other place where you really can't get help (from, say, your parents...), then you can still do 2), too. If you think you can handle your anger without walking away, good for you. But if you feel yourself about ready to blow, it might be about time for a time out away from that person until you can compose yourself.

I pray to God a lot about my anger, and I know that's what's helped the most. He's made me see when I'm about to blow, and how I can avoid it.

I don't know if you knew, but I'm writing a story about anger right now. It's called Transference and it's about a girl named Anna who has extreme anger problems--in fact, they're... what shall we call it?... even more unusual a normal person's problems. More... unique. I'm not talking about always being mad. (Which... she is.) More like there's a kind of Unusualy twist to it.

I'm hoping to finish that story soon. As soon as I do, I'll post it on here. :)

God bless.

When I'm reading a book, sometimes I just want to disappear inside of it...

It's true. I love books so much. I'm a really big reader. Like... I go to my library, and the librarians love me because I always check out like ten books. And when I'm reading a book... it's just so comforting. And you learn so much. And get so many amazing, new plots that entertain you. I love the library. It's like a second home or something. And the best part? It's full of books.

When I read a book, it's like I'm inside of it or something. Sometimes I just wish I could go into their world, meet them, say hi, go around, you know? You just want to interact with them. Be friends with them. Because in a way, it's like you are.

If you're a writer, like I am, then you know what it's like to create your characters. I feel like I know my characters. Like they're my friends or something. Kind of weird, right? But it's true. I feel like Piper and Connie are good friends. That Sonya and I would clash heads. That Maddie and I would be besties. That Willow and I would have awesome talks and be really good friends. That D and I would be sarcastic to the ends of the earth. That Jo and I could write poems together. That Olivia and I could do plays together. That Heidi and I could roam Chronicles together and freak out about horses together. That Wyn, Arawyn, and I could sit down and talk about how we hate arrogant guys. That Adriana and I could talk about fairies and play jokes on them, giggling hysterically the whole time.

The list goes on and on.

I wish I could be in the Warrior Squad, be the Keeper of Chronicles, live in a town in Virginia called Applegate, be known as the Rubberboot Girl, be a Fairy Eyes, get to be an actress... I wish I could just disappear inside of their books for awhile, get to be with them, live their lives and stories and have amazing adventures.

Do you sometimes wish that?

Hola:)

Dear Readers,

I hope that you're having a lovelyyyyyyyy Sunday!! :)

Yesterday I was at a track meet and like for ONCE I finally wore sun tan lotion and then...... I didn't put any (apparently) right underneath my eyes, so I ended up looking like a red raccoon. (for church...) Thankfully, I got rescued by some breathable makeup. =P (like first time ever... I NEVER wear makeup, unless it's a play or we're making a movie.... so, yeah.......) I just had to make sure not to rub by my eyes haha =D

Anyway, so if you've read September Piper (which I hope you have :)) then you'll know it's "to be continued", aka Storyteller has decided to make a new book. YAY!! I won't tell you the name of it just in case you haven't read the first one yet. ;) (it kind of defeats the point... like you'd know what happened... because it's that kind of name...) But anyway, yes, I'm working on the next one. :)

I just found out that I love researching my stories!! =D Before, I'd kind of gleaned off of the information I had in my brain. (wow... =P) But I've finally started researching. (yay me!!) And I've found it's really fun. :) Like now I know the different parts of New York. (Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn...)

Anyway, real quick poll--who's your favorite September Piper character?

Gotta go!

Love,
Willow

Transference

I have a new book that I'm writing... I just started it two days ago, but I'm already over fifty pages. (Yippee!!) For me, this story is not only something that reflects things that I've felt, things that fire me up, but it's also a good adventure story, something caught between magical, and yet something that's not that magical. And what is it?

Transference

It's about a rather normal girl, I suppose.... who has pretty big anger issues. But weird things start to happen, revolving around her anger, and things that she didn't think she did, she did.

I'm really excited about this book, and I hope that you'll all really like it when I [eventually] post it. If you have rather explosive anger sometimes like I do, this book will really.... I don't know.... I suppose you could say connect with you. Because that's what this book is about--how harmful, powerful, and horrible your anger can really be and how it destroys things when it gets out of control.

I'm really excited about this book.

I'll give you the beginning part of the prologue.

Enjoy. <3

Transference. What an awful word. It's a word that changes everything. It's something that happens. And for some like me, it's unstoppable. I suppose you could say I have anger issues. The people at Zion Prep? They would say I have power issues. And me? I don't know what I'd call it--the thing that almost destroyed my life? That put me and others in danger?  I don't know. here's too many names for it. funnily enough, I'm the girl with only one name--Anna. And though it means "graceful", I'm about as far from it as you can get, whether you choose to think about it as the dancer-graceful or the idea that I'm full of grace. If I ever was ever full of anything, it was anger--it spills into everything.....

Heads up, this is the continuing story...

(Remember--I'll give you choices, and you guys get to decide where the story goes.)

My name is...

1. Willow Fletcher
2. Raven
3. Bree Keyne

...and for all of my life that I can remember, I have lived in an orphanage.

Nothing interesting happens to most people. But I know that something "interesting" happened to me when I was younger. Why else wouldn't I remember before I was eight, and why else do I always have memory flashes at the strangest times?

I stare out ahead, my [1. Green, 2. Blue, 3. Hazel, 4. Violet, 5. Brown] eyes watching the kids coming in and out of the back doors of the orphanage. I push my [short, long, medium] [1. Brown, 2. Blonde, 3. Black, 4. Red] hair over my shoulder.

At just that moment...

1. A kid comes out that she's never seen before, dressed in black clothes and looking mysterious.

2. Somebody grabs her arm and whirls her around.

|it's your choice|
